There's more to art than just the act of drawing things that are hard to draw. You also need to think like a photographer or a cinematographer if you want to make something that's both skillful and visually appealing
The reboot does the cinematic side of things way better; the shots are much more varied, the designs, while a bit shit, at least have some variety outside of their outfits and actually look their age, the faces are more stylized, allowing the characters to be infinity more expressive and thus appealing than the old ones ever could, ect.
The issues in the reboot come in during the animation part of the animation, where you get shit like
