Yeah, the book had plenty of issues and failed to deliver properly in its premise, but thankfully it got better. Even then, it was s absolutely much better than Iron Sights on every regard.
Just because the characters "are meant to be" in a certain way doesn't mean it's good, since it was still pretty badly written. There's no issue with them being gruff, it's what they said and acted like. The storytime already happened and we all saw how it truly was, I'm not sure why there's still people trying to convince me otherwise.

Don't come at me saying he's the victim here, everything that happened to him was his own doing, just like EVS when he torched every connection he had with the industry and decided to live off YouTube outrage by clipping heads off toys.
