For some reason it just never felt right with me for Saki to be some millionaire philanthropist, so it made Shredder less intimidating to me. The alien twist I honestly found stupid because it just adds on a bunch of extra layers to the origin that just come off as too much without actually adding a lot.
My ideal Shredder was the first movie one. He was intimidating, his idea to run an underground gang using wayward teens was great, and the rooftop battle had a lot of weight to it.
