>>103572544>How do things get fucked over there originally anyways?Long story short: Judge Death- or Sidney De'ath, as you know him from reading Boyhood of a Superfiend- rises through the ranks of the Deadworld Justice Department and becomes Chief Judge, around the same time he and three colleagues are transformed to undying monstrosities through two witches known as Nausea and Phobia. Over the course of the series you actually get to see them change and morph into their more well-known forms through the witches' majyyk and the various technomagical processes they and their underlings go through. With him at the helm of the Justice Dept., the world basically goes from 'bleak and uncaring but sometimes people find a bit of happiness' to 'oh my god the world itself is literally fucking dying and they're putting shit in the water to kill the environment and turn people into zombies and mutants.' I don't wanna spoil too much of how it happens because it's a damn good read, but in Deadworld (the world, not the comic) life was already, in Death's words, not the 'sssacred insstitution' it is in ours and supposed to be in Dredd's, and shit manages to go downhill from THERE so that's really saying something.
