Shock therapy is still being used. It just isn't considered an universal cure for everything, like lobotomy was. Drawing comparisons to transitioning is thus dumb, because it's not automatically done to each patient and it isn't a miracle cure, it's one form of treatment.
Transitioning is a very long and costly process, not something you decide on a whim and the get done while you run errands in the afternoon. You need to talk to psychologists, you need to complete a step-by-step program where you slowly start to adopt a more feminine characteristics and lifestyle, like wearing women's clohes in public and in your private every day life, etc. and see how well it goes.
And sure, transitioning doesn't always solve problems but neither do prescribing psych meds and ither treatments for people with mental disabilities, that doesn't mean we just stop treating people. The biggest issue with trans people it to make those who want to undergo the procedure to understand transitioning isn't an instant fix.
Wanting to label and discriminate people who transition simply because they don't fit your narrow idea of normal isn't right, it makes you a petty and bigoted asshole and implies you have a very insecure self-image you project into others, similar to gay bahsers who end up being closet homosexuals themselves. Do you also have such giant hatred of people suffering from severe depression or schizophrenia and spend your time online attacking them with equal fervor?
