From the description of the original galra, having conquered other tribes, the smaller eared, less furry galra (like zarkon) are probably descendants of galra and the other tribes.
Since they are all the same species, all of them likely have the same erogenous zones, but the fact that galra promoted strength over everything suggests they wouldn't have such large vulnerable spots.
So my guess, the ears are not sensitive physically, they probably just give them an edge in fighting/hunting, being able to hear opponents, sense air currents, etc.
