I agree that they'd stop hostilities, but I wouldn't have guessed that they'd just instantly flop to the ground like dead fish. The Diamonds - especially Yellow - have had these huge commanding personalities and status for all these years, they were in the middle of a huge battle ... then literally seconds after the reveal that Steven = Pink, they totally reverse so much of that. These matriarch leaders of an extreme caste society are just standing around shooting the shit with a bunch of rebellious "lower" gems they've been trying to destroy for thousands of years, they're getting talked back to and orders barked at them like it's nothing, etc, etc.
There's no anger about being lied to for thousands of years, even their "relief" is subdued at most. Blue is mostly just her mopey-old self with a little bit of happiness thrown in, Yellow Diamond just seemed bored for most of the episode, and ate way too much shit for her status ... even if she'd take that shit from Pink in private, she did it in front of all those rebel "lower" gems? In the same episode where she was concerned about looking weak/embarrassed to homeworld?
I don't mind the Diamonds being this way, I just feel like they needed at least a few episodes of all these characters actually working through some of this stuff together. They could have been great episodes too, I want to see some of these issues discussed between the Diamonds/Steven, and even the Diamonds/Crystal Gems. Instead it was all 100% brushed over, and we went directly towards this White Diamond plot at a million miles an hour. It just feels so strange to me.
