I think when characters are standing still, sometimes they're actually just on the background as a sort of guideline already, and they're just traced over and spruced up a bit. I've seen some background images where there's color keys and rough drawings of the characters already on it. Not for SU I don't think but it seems to be common for animation in this era.

I think the real issue here is that they didn't drag the two animated characters down to create the illusion they were closer to the screen and not walking right on fucking top of yellowtail, which is one of the most prominent QUALITY issues in modern cartoons, where a foot that lands on the ground is hovering over someone just a bit.

More like they don't care enough. It's a children's show with a lot of filler slice of life episodes. They're just gonna air those as long as it gets views. 'Muh plot' doesn't matter to kids. When I was little I watched cartoons without connecting every single little thing into a bigger picture.

I started and finished Homestuck just a couple months ago. I was definitely let down a bit in the later acts but even so I thought the entire thing was astoundingly good to a degree that was downright unreal in the first half. That shit made me love time travel as a plot element, everything else before and since has been a massive disappointment.

I really hope something will be as good as it was eventually. I wish the best for the fanbase. It even gave me a new waifu, pic related.
