>>104215622Dante is not a flawless hero but he has matured a lot from 3. The reason for his actions in 4 are that there was no real threat to him, he already surpassed his father and could have ended the whole threat from the start, wich he tried to do since first thing he does is kill Sanctus, but then he becomes curious of Nero having Sparda blood and figures that he should let him have his own journey to find his own purpose. After he tested Nero, Dante allowed him to wield Yamato and he even said that if the kid was not good enough to stop the threat, he would just have to step in and save Nero wich again, he did until he decided once again to have faith in Nero to save the day. Dante himself was wary enough to send Lady and Trish to defend and evacuate the civilians of Fortuna from the demon invasion and from the Saviour showing that even though the whole ordeal was a game for him, he still took into consideration people's lives. Is not the perfect plot but it's understandable, also a lot of the flaws in DMC4's plot come from the fact it is a half-finished game. One of the reasons to be excited for DMC 5 is that is going to be a story where Dante is going to take things seriously again.
He can be a rude wisecracker to his allies but he does respect them, he used to do that with Lady in 3 until he matured at the end of gameand with Nero he was testing his skills and making fun of him because he was basically throwing tantrums every time they meet. He didn't do that much with Trish because he was in a serious mission. Acting rude to bosses is part of the charm of these games and there is nothing wrong with it, they are evil demons that are going be send back to hell, better do it with a cool one liner.
