You know, ever since I developed feelings for a 2D female in a manga I read in my last year of middle school, (how that even happened in the first place is a long story about my parent's speration and a dysfuntctional family afterwards) I gained a sense of existentialism, and became a pesudo-philosopher, and I think I know the answer to this question.
The feeling of what they call "love" is just an offshoot of sexual attraction, which in itself is just an offshoot of our desire to pass on our genes so we, as a species, can survive. To be in "love" and to be sexually attracted is one and the same, because it all connects back to our survival as a species. The meaning of life is an assertion of dominance, there is no real purpose for our existence otherwise. The concept of "Life" (in a societal context) is just a game we created to prolong the inevitable death that every single one of us mortal beings will succumb to one day.
