Oh, they explain that later. All of his relics are real, Grand Prax basically used the church's influence and power years ago to activate the blueshift and make it so all of the relics are copied, causing the originals to break. Because of that, everyone thought the originals were junk and started pursuing the copies, while the real relics became trash no one wanted and Prax could just collect them, but it'd call too much attention if the church started getting relics in the middle of an arms race with the Garokkian government, so he pretended to be a bumbling fool, founded a troupe of silly scavengers and started pretending he was duped into taking trash.
The chapter ends with him using his reverb-melting reverb on the blueshift machine, which is revealed to be powered by the last of the Kritions(thus it's a huge reverb) and thus cancelling the effect, meaning all of the characters that had relics now have broken fakes and all of his fake relics are now the real thing.
Sucks especially for Lautaro(who is fighting him and whose arm was a "The golden claw of galator") and to everyone near Steriln, who is more than likely guaranteed dead since they only have reverbs to fight against him with.I wonder why Prax decided to do this now, it only helped Steriln and the church is supposed to hate him.
