That's because outside of the side-character arc A.K.A "wastes of time and dropped foreshadowing, with some Hir02 in the background for actual enjoyment", the show's first half was actually decent.
Sure, the world wasn't super deep, but it gave you enough to fill in some of the gaps yourself and in some cases, saying less about the world is more. Then 12-15 was a roller coaster of dragging you through emotional highs and lows, and since they actually planned out these parts, it felt cohesive and like potential to be a cult classic masterpiece.
Then they stopped giving a shit and blew out all the quality they had built up, didn't realize they wrote a character-focused lovestory instead of a "multiprotagonist drama", and shit the bed with 2 poorly made final episodes. If it had stayed a love story about two mentally unstable dinosaur kids, it probably would be well regarded, even among the shitposting and over-hype.
