I know characters lie but at no point is it even implied that Roland keeps the truth hidden because he doesn't trust Nightingale or any of the witches. Not only that, one of his main traits and the things that allows him to charm so many witches is that he trusts them completely, to the point that he never uses a God Stone around them or tries to force them to do shit.
And yet he he doesn't even explain why he doesn't want to talk about the truth other than the fact that it would be a bother.
And if the witches could use mind magic then they wouldn't even bother asking, nevermind the fact that Roland checks each witch's ability the moment they come to Border Town.
My point is that Roland has no reason to hide the truth because all the witches couldn't give less of a fuck about the original Roland and even when he was talking with Tilly, the one witch who did care about Roland, he came up with such a shitty explanation thay anyone in the room who wasn't retarded knew he was lying.
Roland had literally no reason to hide it. And no, I'm not expecting him to go around telling eveyrone he isn't the real Roland, but I do expect him to be honest when confronted by people like Nightingale.>>175485743
Except barely anyone cares about the original Roland and his legitimacy is non-existant considering he is the least favourite prince and a massive heretic who didn't hesitate to oppose the Church.
His claim to the throne is based on the fact that he has a shitton of weapons capable of annihilating an entire army, everything else is meaningless.
