You know whats the problem with Super? Exploration and adventure. People said Z throwed that out of the window but thats simply not true.
Look at the saiyan saga, we see Goku traveling to the Kai planet, his training and Gohan somewhat exploring the wildness and then we get a fight.
Freezer saga, 90% of the saga was explorating Namek and then the grind that was Freezer.
Android Saga, the gang goes around the planet loooking for the androids, the lab, cell, the androids again so they get absorved, etc etc.
Buu Saga, characters are all over the place, we have a tournament, then we got to a ship and a shit ton more.
Looking back at original super stuff not movies, characters literally stayed on the same place for every season. When they announced the multiverse stuff and the new dragon balls I imagined the gang would get teletransported to the new universe and they would had to separate and look for the dragon ball in groups and wish to get back, that way you can make multiple characters relevant even if they suck powerlevel wise. What did we get? 1v1 Tournament where we hardly see the new universe and character staying on the same place 100% of the time.
When they announced ToP I imagined it wouldnt be 1v1 but probably challenges and small group fights like 3v3. People would need to advance through brackets where the final teams with more participants would have an advantage, thus making character weak power level wise be relevant. What do we get? A boring battle royale where nothing matters if you realize the 1% of fighters could knock out everyone by just willing it with a bunch of 1v1 fights making the battle royale thing mostly pointless.
Do you know why people think the Black arc is fun? Because we travel a lot, we are in the past, then in normal univere, to the past, back, etc ,etc. It felt like dragon ball again, it felt like something was happening.
