What do you think the Franco-Prussian War and World War I was about. One of the main reasons why Britain became antagonistic to Germany after the death of Fredrick the III was that Wilhelm II literally built a fleet comparable to the British Navy (That Germany didn't fucking need worth fuck, because they didn't need fucking colonies.) Said Navy later got raped to death by the British.
The British also were against the Russians getting too powerful (Another reason why Germany went to war against the Russian Empire as they were industrializing/reforming and could out power them) and against the French getting too powerful. Hence why there foreign policy was Balance of Power.
Regardless though Germany after the troops (French) withdrew from the Rhinelands, Germany was already in the process of becoming a powerhouse, Weimar Republic was in a good time mood in the 1920s before the crash. Germany didn't need Poland really and could've kept their already taken Germanic lands (Austria, etc). Then again Germany would've eventually went to war against the Soviets, so taking Poland was for their war advantage, but then they wouldn't be the bad guys as it would've been a defensive war, but German instead of diversifying their economy turned it into a war one and went kind of retarded in other policies.
The bottom line is.
1) Germany fucked up by taking Poland because it did not need it.
2) Germany promised Britain in writing by Hitler himself to stop expansionism and broke it.
3) Britain made a promise to defend Poland from German invasion (Which took it months to prepare) and it kept to it.
Germany is to blame because it had the choice to stop before the war started. Germany knew it would be at war with France, Britain, and the Russians again if it continued its policies. Germany did not care and for that the nation was destroyed once more and this time split in half for over 40+ years.
