See, if it was any other movie, I wouldn't give a fuck. I didn't with Death Note - it was a shit film for a different set of reasons. Kimi no Na wa, though, how the fuck are they planning to make that work without the setting? The fucking film is a response to the huge fucking earthquakes a few years back, and Japanese culture plays a huge fucking role in the film - not just musubi and etc, but one of the fucking protagonists being a shrine maiden.
If you cut all that shit out, and forcefully try to graft it onto western values, it will just not fucking work. This shit doesn't go one way. It would be just as retarded to try and adapt a Great American Novel without an American setting.
