It has some similarities to other works of theirs. It's basically a SoL with little drama (or drama that gets shoved in the last 2 episodes). Not exactly comedy in the sense that you're being hit with jokes left and right, but still has its moments. K-On, Haruhi, Chuu2, Tamako, AmaBuri, Lucky Star follow this pattern. Nichijou was actually a pure slapstick manga but they added all the SoL stuff and the little drama with Mio and Sasahara at the end to even it out.
They often adapt either these or full on dramas like Hibike, Key adaptations, Hyouka, and Free!. Kyoukai no Kanata was a weird mix of both, it never knew what it wanted to be.
